Meet David Skinner DDS, PA

Prosthodontist in Wilmington, North Carolina

Dr. Skinner approaches each dental challenge as a unique artistic opportunity, with function and comfort in mind. He meticulously works with the precision of a sculptor to ensure his enhancements harmonize beautifully with each individual’s overall aesthetics. His passion for drawing and painting, which he developed in his youth, now serves as a foundation in his approach. A native of Dunn, NC, he earned his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of NC at Chapel Hill. He served as a Naval Dental Officer aboard the USS Gunston Hall before completing his prosthodontic training at the Medical College of Georgia. He is a member of the Southeastern Academy of Prosthodontics and has volunteered as adjunct faculty at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry.

His philosophy extends beyond the technical aspects and, most importantly, the power of personal connection and trust. This is done by careful listening and in strong empathetic engagement with each patient.

Doc is a respected figure in the dental community, staying up to date on the latest advances in restorative dentistry. It is easy to tell this is his passion, along with ensuring a good quality of life for his patients.

Together with his wife Angie (a pediatric dentist) and their three children, Kailan, Anna Kate, and Ethan, he enjoys an active life in Wilmington and Asheville, NC.  His role as father, husband, and community member is as central to his identity as his professional achievements, reflecting a balanced, fulfilled life dedicated to service, family, and pursuit of artistic and scientific excellence in his dentistry.
